The Saddle Tree – The Heart of Every Stübben Saddle

Our saddle tree is a masterpiece of stability, flexibility, and durability – developed to promote the well-being of both horse and rider.

Double Stability

Two built-in gullet plates made of hardened stainless steel protect the withers, absorb impact upon landing, and remain adjustable – even later, if your horse’s shape changes.

Elastic Flexibility

The pre-tensioned steel spring tree evenly distributes the rider’s weight and absorbs shock.
This relieves strain on the horse’s back and enhances comfort in the saddle – a benefit often recommended by physiotherapists.

Integrated Safety Stirrup Bars

Corrosion-resistant brass stirrup bars are recessed deep into the saddle tree to ensure optimal weight distribution. Their shape allows the stirrup leathers to release safely in the event of a fall.

Personalized Seat Feel

Each seat is made from individually shaped foam layers. Depending on personal preference, you can choose between:

• Standard,
• Extra Soft, or
• Biomex Technology, scientifically proven to reduce and prevent back pain.

Leather & Material Selection – Quality with Responsibility

A Stübben saddle begins with the careful selection of the finest raw materials.
We use only full-grain leather, predominantly sourced from Simmental cattle.
Each hide tells its own story – visible natural markings are a hallmark of authenticity and quality.

Our Principles

• Breathability: Open pores prevent heat build-up and slipping.
• Tear Resistance & Abrasion Strength: The natural, unbuffed surface makes our leather exceptionally durable.
• Sustainability: All leathers are environmentally tanned, up to 25% lighter, and made to last.
  

Tanning – Natural. Modern. Sustainable.

We work exclusively with metal-free tanned leathers that are:

• hypoallergenic and skin-friendly,
• up to 25% lighter,
• temperature-neutral, and
• significantly more environmentally responsible than conventional tanning methods.
  

In addition to leather, all other components – from saddle trees to fittings – are sourced as regionally as possible within Europe.

Wool for the Panels – Function Meets Comfort

For our saddle panels, we use premium new wool of animal origin, chosen for its natural performance characteristics:

• Its fiber structure forms an insulating air cushion that balances temperature and ensures even weight distribution.
• It can absorb a large amount of moisture without feeling damp – ideal for the demands of equestrian sport.
• Its natural elasticity makes it resistant to creasing and deformation, maintaining its shape even under heavy use.
