The headpiece should sit comfortably behind the ears without restricting their movement. Check that it does not sit too tightly against sensitive areas and that it remains in the correct position while your horse moves.

The shape of the headpiece is particularly important with anatomically designed bridles. The Stübben Freedom II, for example, has been designed with additional space around the ears and sensitive areas of the horse’s head.

A browband should sit comfortably without pulling the headpiece or cheekpieces forwards.

If it is too short, it can affect the position of the entire bridle. Make sure there is enough room and that the browband follows the shape of your horse’s forehead comfortably.

The correct position and adjustment of the noseband depend on the type of noseband you are using.

It should sit securely without restricting the horse unnecessarily. Because a cavesson, flash, drop or grackle noseband is fitted differently, always consider the design of the individual noseband when adjusting it.

Adjust the cheekpieces evenly on both sides so that the bit sits symmetrically in the horse’s mouth.

Check the position of the bit carefully rather than relying on a single rule for every horse. The horse’s individual mouth conformation and the type of bit should always be taken into consideration.
