The 2451 Easy Control Anatomic D-Ring Bit double broken combines subtle communication with controlled influence. Under standard rein contact it works like a double-jointed snaffle; when the horse or rider applies strong, symmetrical pressure, it shifts into a bar-effect bit. The anatomically shaped mouthpiece follows the contours of the horse’s mouth for more comfortable lay, and the large D-rings ensure excellent lateral stability and consistent positioning.

Description

2451 Easy Control Anatomical Large D-Ring Bit Double Jointed

The Stübben SteelTEC Easy Control bits are activated by strong, bilateral pressure from the horse, turning them into a bar bit. With normal contact with the reins and as soon as the rider or the horse relaxes, the bit becomes flexible again and can be used like a regular snaffle bit. This allows for precise yet mouth-friendly aids when needed.

Thanks to the effect of the Easy Control bit, horses often learn to hold back on their own as soon as the bar effect kicks in. Therefore, Easy Control bits should be used for training purposes for short periods, with regular checks to see if the desired learning effect has been achieved.

The anatomically shaped mouthpiece offers more targeted lateral guidance and support in bends and turns. The rein pressure is evenly distributed over the entire tongue, making the action a bit more direct than with a normal, double-jointed bit. At the same time, the bit rests more calmly in the horse’s mouth, making it comfortable for the horse.

The D-ring provides better lateral stabilization and guidance, creating calm and stability in the horse's mouth. The rein action is slightly softened by the large D-rings. This side piece should rest lightly against the side.

Advantages at a Glance

Effect:
When the horse applies strong pressure forward on both reins, the bit acts like a bar. As soon as the horse or rider relaxes (on one side), the bit acts like a double-jointed snaffle.

Mouthpiece:
Made of stainless steel
Stainless steel is robust, tasteless, and odorless

Which horses are particularly suited for this bit?

  • Horses that become stronger in certain situations (e.g., in the field, while jumping, etc.)
  • Horses that pull strongly towards jumps
  • Horses that need some lateral stability
  • Horses that become too cautious with leverage bits or similar

Note on Proper Use

Any bit can cause pain if used roughly and improperly. An incorrect size can also be painful for the horse. Please contact us if you have questions about size and fastening, or read more here about choosing the right size and proper fitting. Please ensure that Easy Control bits are regularly switched out to check for the desired training effect.

Size Guide

Measure your horse’s mouth width by placing a bit sizer, string, or dowel between the corners of the lips (at the position where the bit will sit), mark the ends, then measure the distance.

The bit width should be such that the rings rest just outside (or very slightly beyond) the lip corners—if the bit is too narrow, it will pinch; too wide, it will shift side to side.

For loose ring bits, allow a little “play” so the rings can rotate freely without pinching the lips.

When mounted in the bridle, the bit should sit such that there is 1–2 small wrinkles at the corners of the mouth (but this is not a perfect rule for all jointed bits)

The bit should lie on the bars (the toothless gap between incisors and molars) and not press into teeth or interfere with the palate.

Care Instructions

Washing
After each ride, rinse or wipe the bit to remove saliva, feed residues, or sweat. Use lukewarm water and, if needed, a mild, pH-neutral detergent or saddle soap. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as they can damage the metal surface and reduce the bit’s longevity.

Drying
Once cleaned, dry the bit thoroughly with a soft cloth. Allow it to air dry completely before storage. Do not expose the bit to direct sunlight, and never place it on or near heat sources such as heaters or radiators.

Storage
Store your bit in a dry, well-ventilated environment, protected from moisture and temperature fluctuations. For best results, keep bits individually or padded to prevent metal parts from rubbing or scratching each other. Avoid leaving the bit attached to the bridle for extended periods, especially in humid conditions.

Guidance

Any bit can cause pain if used roughly or improperly. The wrong size can also be painful for the horse.
This Easy Control Anatomic D-Ring should be used for trained riders with soft, consistent aids. Because the bit changes its effect when the horse exerts forward pressure, it works as a teaching aid: the horse learns to yield before the bar effect engages. Use it for shorter training phases to reinforce light contact and self-control.
