Equi-Soft® Lambskin Girth Pads by Mattes – Comfort and Quality at the Highest Level
The sheepskin pads for the Equi-Soft® stud girth can be replaced in just a few seconds thanks to a practical velcro fastening system.
Benefits of Lambskin
Made from genuine, natural Lambskin, these pads provide a skin-friendly, breathable, and hypoallergenic surface. The soft material has shock-absorbing properties, ensuring maximum comfort and protection even under intense use. With regular care, the lambskin remains supple and fully functional, maintaining its premium quality even with frequent use.
Crafted to the Highest Standards – Made in Europe
The Equi-Soft® lambskin pads are produced by Mattes, a renowned company with decades of experience in equestrian premium products. The lambskins are carefully selected in Australia under strict criteria and meticulously handcrafted in the EU at the company’s facility in Poland.

How to Attach the Equi-Soft® Pad
1. Lay the Girth Flat - Place the girth on a flat surface with the Velcro side facing up.
2. Position the Center - Align the middle Velcro strip of the Pad with the Velcro on the girth, ensuring all edges are fully covered.
3. Secure the Sides - Gently lift each side of the girth and press the side Velcro sections of the Pad firmly in place. The girth will automatically take its anatomical shape once secured.
Made from genuine natural Australian Lambswool — hypoallergenic, breathable and shock-absorbing. Produced by Mattes in the EU.
Care Instructions
To maintain the lambskin’s quality and breathability, the pad should be washed regularly depending on usage. If used two to three times per week, it should be washed approximately every two weeks. When the lambskin becomes heavily soaked with sweat, it should be washed immediately after use, as the ammonia in horse sweat can damage the material.
Since lambskin absorbs moisture very well, the pad should only be used again once it is completely dry. This helps preserve its breathability. If the pad does not have sufficient drying time between rides, it is advisable to keep multiple pads and use them alternately.
Storage
Do not store the pad in a plastic bag. Keep it in a dry, shaded place. If it will not be used for a longer period, wash it first and ensure it is completely dry before storing. We recommend using moth protection during storage.
Step 1: Washing
Machine washing is recommended, as it is far more effective than hand washing. Use a normal spin cycle at 30 °C and select the “extra water” option, or pour an additional 3–4 liters of water into the detergent compartment about 10 minutes after the cycle starts. We recommend MELP special detergent by Mattes, which cleans and conditions both lambskin and leather. Do not use fabric softener or bleach, and avoid overloading the washing machine.
Step 2: Drying
Remove the pad from the washing machine immediately after the cycle ends. It may be tumble-dried on a cool or cold setting (maximum 30 °C) or air-dried in the shade. Do not expose the pad to direct heat sources (such as radiators) or direct sunlight.
