The 1304 Fine Line Flex Baucher Snaffle combines modern comfort technology with proven safety. Its mouthpiece is made from flexible, food-grade PU (FDA-approved, plasticizer-free and completely safe), offering a warmer and more natural feel in the horse’s mouth even at lower temperatures. An internal metal core ensures break resistance and long-term stability. The straight, anatomically shaped mouthpiece lies evenly across the tongue and bars, with slight tongue relief to reduce pressure. The fixed Baucher cheekpieces provide exceptional stability, positioning the bit quietly and steadily in the horse’s mouth. When the reins are taken, the Baucher bit gently tilts and directs pressure toward the corners of the lips, which can support improved posture and self-carriage — ideal for horses that tend to lean into the hand.

Size Guide

Measure your horse’s mouth width by placing a bit sizer, string, or dowel between the corners of the lips (at the position where the bit will sit), mark the ends, then measure the distance.

The bit width should be such that the rings rest just outside (or very slightly beyond) the lip corners—if the bit is too narrow, it will pinch; too wide, it will shift side to side.

For loose ring bits, allow a little “play” so the rings can rotate freely without pinching the lips.

When mounted in the bridle, the bit should sit such that there is 1–2 small wrinkles at the corners of the mouth (but this is not a perfect rule for all jointed bits)

The bit should lie on the bars (the toothless gap between incisors and molars) and not press into teeth or interfere with the palate.

Care Instructions

Washing
After each ride, rinse or wipe the bit to remove saliva, feed residues, or sweat. Use lukewarm water and, if needed, a mild, pH-neutral detergent or saddle soap. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as they can damage the metal surface and reduce the bit’s longevity.

Drying
Once cleaned, dry the bit thoroughly with a soft cloth. Allow it to air dry completely before storage. Do not expose the bit to direct sunlight, and never place it on or near heat sources such as heaters or radiators.

Storage
Store your bit in a dry, well-ventilated environment, protected from moisture and temperature fluctuations. For best results, keep bits individually or padded to prevent metal parts from rubbing or scratching each other. Avoid leaving the bit attached to the bridle for extended periods, especially in humid conditions.

Guidance

Any bit can cause pain if used roughly or improperly. The wrong size can also be painful for the horse. This bit promotes quiet contact and subtle elevation, making it particularly suitable for young, sensitive or metal-intolerant horses, as well as horses that have a tendency to become heavy in the hand. It encourages a lighter, more respectful connection without instability or noise in the mouth. Soft, educated rein aids remain essential.
