The 2276 Full Cheek Snaffle Single Jointed combines the guiding benefits of long cheeks with the gentler action of a single joint. Its SWEET Copper mouthpiece is designed to be well accepted by the horse, promoting salivation and better communication. The extended cheeks provide effective lateral support and help stabilize the bit in the horse’s mouth without aggressive leverage.

Benefits of SWEET Copper Link:• Better acceptance• Pleasant sweet taste of the middle piece • Encourages chewing and salivation• Solid copper composition (90% Copper, 7% Iron and Aluminum, no Nickel) with very high strength • Horses feel good with SWEET Copper

Benefits of the full-cheek snaffle:• The extended arms enhance the impact on the horse’s mouth from outside, thus facilitating the response of the horse on the outside rein• The leverage effect of the full-cheek snaffle is low but can be increased by the insertion of additional bars – which fasten the upper bars to the bridle• The full-cheek snaffle is particularly suitable for the training of young horses and for lunging.

Stübben Steeltec quality:• No rough edges that could hurt the horse's mouth• Long durability due to selected materials• A special processing technology ensures that bit holes and link pieces remain intact for longer
Size Guide

Measure your horse’s mouth width by placing a bit sizer, string, or dowel between the corners of the lips (at the position where the bit will sit), mark the ends, then measure the distance.

The bit width should be such that the rings rest just outside (or very slightly beyond) the lip corners—if the bit is too narrow, it will pinch; too wide, it will shift side to side.

For loose ring bits, allow a little “play” so the rings can rotate freely without pinching the lips.

When mounted in the bridle, the bit should sit such that there is 1–2 small wrinkles at the corners of the mouth (but this is not a perfect rule for all jointed bits)

The bit should lie on the bars (the toothless gap between incisors and molars) and not press into teeth or interfere with the palate.

Care Instructions

Washing
After each ride, rinse or wipe the bit to remove saliva, feed residues, or sweat. Use lukewarm water and, if needed, a mild, pH-neutral detergent or saddle soap. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as they can damage the metal surface and reduce the bit’s longevity.

Drying
Once cleaned, dry the bit thoroughly with a soft cloth. Allow it to air dry completely before storage. Do not expose the bit to direct sunlight, and never place it on or near heat sources such as heaters or radiators.

Storage
Store your bit in a dry, well-ventilated environment, protected from moisture and temperature fluctuations. For best results, keep bits individually or padded to prevent metal parts from rubbing or scratching each other. Avoid leaving the bit attached to the bridle for extended periods, especially in humid conditions.

Guidance

Any bit can cause pain if used roughly or improperly. The wrong size can also be painful for the horse.
The full cheek design works especially well for providing stable outside rein guidance and preventing the bit from twisting in the mouth. Because of the long cheeks, you should make sure the bit’s alignment is correct so the cheeks don’t rub. The single joint offers a gentler, straightforward action — use soft, consistent hands for best results.
