The fixed bradoon proportions and polished stainless steel surface provide a calm, neutral feel — ideal for sensitive horses and precise dressage work.

Description

2425 Bradoon Bit Fine Line Double-Jointed Level 3 New

An Bradoon bit is used in conjunction with a curb bit. The difference between an Bradoon bit and a regular bit lies in its thickness and the size of the rings.

The double-jointed Level 3 mouthpiece is designed to exert more direct pressure on the horse's bars. The central piece lies evenly on the horse's tongue. This makes one-sided aids more effective and quicker to communicate. The continuous rings ensure that the bit always finds a neutral position in the horse's mouth.

The sides should leave approximately one centimeter of space to the corner of the mouth. The horse can move the bit independently with its tongue.

Note on Proper Use

Any bit can cause pain if used roughly or improperly. An incorrect size can also be painful for the horse. Please feel free to contact us with any questions about size and fitting, or read here for more information on choosing the right size and proper fitting in the horse's mouth.

Size Guide

Measure your horse’s mouth width by placing a bit sizer, string, or dowel between the corners of the lips (at the position where the bit will sit), mark the ends, then measure the distance.

The bit width should be such that the rings rest just outside (or very slightly beyond) the lip corners—if the bit is too narrow, it will pinch; too wide, it will shift side to side.

For loose ring bits, allow a little “play” so the rings can rotate freely without pinching the lips.

When mounted in the bridle, the bit should sit such that there is 1–2 small wrinkles at the corners of the mouth (but this is not a perfect rule for all jointed bits)

The bit should lie on the bars (the toothless gap between incisors and molars) and not press into teeth or interfere with the palate.

Care Instructions

Washing
After each ride, rinse or wipe the bit to remove saliva, feed residues, or sweat. Use lukewarm water and, if needed, a mild, pH-neutral detergent or saddle soap. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as they can damage the metal surface and reduce the bit’s longevity.

Drying
Once cleaned, dry the bit thoroughly with a soft cloth. Allow it to air dry completely before storage. Do not expose the bit to direct sunlight, and never place it on or near heat sources such as heaters or radiators.

Storage
Store your bit in a dry, well-ventilated environment, protected from moisture and temperature fluctuations. For best results, keep bits individually or padded to prevent metal parts from rubbing or scratching each other. Avoid leaving the bit attached to the bridle for extended periods, especially in humid conditions.

Guidance

Any bit can cause pain if used roughly or improperly. The wrong size can also be painful for the horse.
As a bradoon, this bit is designed to be used below the curb bit in a double bridle, offering light, elastic contact without disturbing the horse’s self-carriage. It is especially suited to experienced riders with quiet hands and horses working in advanced dressage frames.
