The 2421 Easy Control Soft Roll bit double broken transitions between a flexible snaffle and a straight-bar bit depending on rein pressure. Under normal contact it behaves like a gentle water snaffle, but when the horse pushes forward on both reins, it momentarily locks into a bar effect for added control. Its double-jointed mouthpiece distributes pressure evenly across tongue and bars, while the soft copper roll in the center stimulates salivation and encourages acceptance. The loose rings ensure the bit finds a neutral resting position.

Description

2421 Easy Control Soft Roll bit double broken

The Stübben SteelTEC Easy Control bits become a bar when the horse exerts strong forward pressure on both sides. With a normal connection to the hand and as soon as the rider or horse gives way, the bit becomes flexible again and can be used like a normal water snaffle. This enables precise yet mouth-friendly aids to be given when necessary.

Thanks to the effect of the Easy Control bridle, horses often learn to pull back on their own as soon as the bit starts to work. The Easy Control bits should therefore be used for training purposes for a short period of time, whereby it should be checked regularly whether the desired learning effect has already set in.

The double jointed mouthpiece distributes the pressure evenly over the tongue and bars, while the soft roll made of sweet copper in the centrepiece stimulates the mouth. The loose rings ensure that the bit always finds a neutral position in the horse's mouth.

Advantages at a glance

Impact

The bit becomes a bar when the horse exerts strong forward pressure on both reins. As soon as the horse or rider yields (on one side), the bit has the effect of a double jointed water snaffle.

Mouthpiece

  • Made of stainless steel with sweet copper roll in the centrepiece
  • Stainless steel is robust, tasteless and odourless
  • Better acceptance: The sweet-tasting copper is particularly well accepted by horses and encourages them to buy.
  •  90% copper, 7% iron and aluminium, nickel-free and particularly robust

For which horses is this bit particularly suitable?

  • for horses that become stronger in certain situations (e.g. in the field, when jumping, etc.)
  • for horses that pull strongly to jump
  • for horses whose chewing activity needs to be stimulated
  • for horses that become too cautious when lever biting or similar

Note on proper use

Any bit can cause pain if used roughly and improperly. The wrong size can also be painful for the horse. If you have any questions about size and buckling, please contact us or read more here about choosing the right size and buckling it correctly in the horse's mouth.

Please note that the Easy Control bits should be changed regularly to check the desired training effect.

Dimensions:

  • Width:  12.5 / 13.5 cm
  • Ring Ø : 70 mm
  • Thickness: 16 mm
Size Guide

Measure your horse’s mouth width by placing a bit sizer, string, or dowel between the corners of the lips (at the position where the bit will sit), mark the ends, then measure the distance.

The bit width should be such that the rings rest just outside (or very slightly beyond) the lip corners—if the bit is too narrow, it will pinch; too wide, it will shift side to side.

For loose ring bits, allow a little “play” so the rings can rotate freely without pinching the lips.

When mounted in the bridle, the bit should sit such that there is 1–2 small wrinkles at the corners of the mouth (but this is not a perfect rule for all jointed bits)

The bit should lie on the bars (the toothless gap between incisors and molars) and not press into teeth or interfere with the palate.

Composition

Mouthpiece: sweet copper - 90% copper, 7% zinc, 4% iron and aluminum hardened, stainless steel; Ring: stainless steel

Care Instructions

Washing
After each ride, rinse or wipe the bit to remove saliva, feed residues, or sweat. Use lukewarm water and, if needed, a mild, pH-neutral detergent or saddle soap. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as they can damage the metal surface and reduce the bit’s longevity.

Drying
Once cleaned, dry the bit thoroughly with a soft cloth. Allow it to air dry completely before storage. Do not expose the bit to direct sunlight, and never place it on or near heat sources such as heaters or radiators.

Storage
Store your bit in a dry, well-ventilated environment, protected from moisture and temperature fluctuations. For best results, keep bits individually or padded to prevent metal parts from rubbing or scratching each other. Avoid leaving the bit attached to the bridle for extended periods, especially in humid conditions.

Guidance

Any bit can cause pain if used roughly or improperly. The wrong size can also be painful for the horse.
The 2421 Soft-Roll bit is designed to teach responsiveness. When the horse pushes forward with both reins, it momentarily “locks” like a bar, encouraging self-collection. But once the horse or rider yields, it returns to its flexible snaffle action. Use it for short training intervals and regularly check whether the desired learning effect has been achieved.
